Welcome Faculty & Staff!
We all play an important role in the career readiness and successful outcomes of students in the College of Business. The Career Development office is just one of many places where career conversations take place. Connect with us for partnership and collaboration opportunities, including arranging Corporate Partner classroom visits, Career Coach presentations, and more.
Want to share some career-related or professional development insights and advise? Contact cdbusiness@ksu.edu to post a blog, video or other resource on our site.
Faculty are often viewed by students as trusted advisors in the career exploration and planning process. This gives you a unique opportunity to encourage students to engage in relevant career development activities.
There are many ways to embed career development in your classes and these can take as little as 5 minutes of class time:
- Invite an alumnus/a to visit (perhaps via Zoom) to give a brief overview of their work and allow for student questions (15+ minutes)
- Host an employer who talks about a topic such as how to stand out in the interview process or their company culture (15+ minutes)
- Have our career development team deliver a presentation on a relevant topic (15 to 45 minutes depending on topic); submit a presentation request by emailing us at cdbusiness@ksu.edu
- When discussing assignments with your class, let students know what NACE Career Readiness Competency they will build through the assignment (5+ minutes)
- List NACE Career Readiness Competencies on your syllabi, in Canvas or both (no class time)
These are just a few ideas to get you started. We’d be happy to discuss ideas with you on how you can integrate career in your class. Please email us at cdbusiness@ksu.edu and we’ll be in contact with you.
Career Development would love to partner with you to embed professional skills into your courses. We offer presentations related to career skills, preparing for career fairs and events, and can even work with you to create a custom workshop based on the needs of your course. Reach out to us today to discuss ways to partner.
