Accounting Analyst I

$54,000-$67,000 | Hybrid with in person reporting to Superior WI.

Are you someone who enjoys solving puzzles, working with numbers, and making a real impact behind the scenes? As an Accounting Analyst I, you’ll do much more than crunch numbers—you’ll help drive business decisions by turning financial data into meaningful insights. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience with financial reporting, analysis, and business operations while collaborating with professionals across the organization. Whether you’re launching your accounting career or looking to expand your analytical skills, this position offers a strong foundation for growth and advancement.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting strongly preferred, but an equivalent degree with applicable accounting course work may be considered.
  • No experience required.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain productive working relationships.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes.
  • Prepare and maintain journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Contribute to the preparation of internal and external financial reports and filings.
  • Coordinate budgeting and forecasting processes by gathering, organizing, and analyzing financial information.
  • Apply departmental policies and practices, assuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting issues and enhance reporting accuracy.
  • Participate in the documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Learn and utilize various software systems, including PowerPlant, Oracle, Maximo, Microsoft Office applications, etc.
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
  • This position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement based on Superior Water Light & Power’s needs. A hybrid work arrangement means the employees position will be a blend of work performed both in-person and at an offsite location such as an employee’s home office. This position will report to Superior, WI.

Its offices are in Superior in northwestern Wisconsin across the St. Louis River from Duluth, Minnesota, where ALLETE is headquartered. Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected annual compensation range for this position is $54,000 – $67,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
