We are currently seeking service-oriented and self-motivated individuals for our Accounting Intern position.
Our internship program offers students a tremendous insight into our firm, its culture, and the accounting industry. Interns gain firsthand experience in public accounting while integrating this experience with their formal education.
Interns rotate between departments at Ellin & Tucker, working closely with members of our Audit and Accounting team on real-life client engagements, preparing tax returns under the supervision of members of our Tax department, and assisting the Client Accounting and Advisory Services team with a variety of projects.
Responsibilities:
- Obtain a basic understanding of trial balance, general ledger, tax preparation, depreciation, and amortization software
- Calculate and prepare fixed asset depreciation schedules on different book and tax bases
- Enter the client’s working trial balance into the correct software and make the necessary adjustments
- Manage engagements wisely, including consideration of budget constraints, and maintain an accurate work-in-progress schedule of assigned tasks
- Cope with the demanding multitasking nature of public accounting
- Learn and practice common audit procedures and techniques by participating in attestation engagements
- Perform substantive tests and tests of internal controls to identify and resolve accounting or reporting issues.
- Practice basic preparation skills for federal, state and personal property tax returns
- Completing research and special projects as needed
Qualifications and Skills:
- Working towards a Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Accounting or another related field of study
- Candidates must be a rising junior or senior and have completed at least intermediate 1
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Strong communication skills, time management skills, and precise attention to detail
- Ability to demonstrate thoughtful interpersonal engagement (presenting a professional demeanor and appearance, cooperative attitude, engaging collaboratively, and showing dedication to superior customer service)
- Availability to work 4 days per week in our office located in Baltimore (firm-provided parking)
- Paid Internship: $30.00/hr
