ABOUT THE Division

General description

Join the Internal Audit division as a Internal Audit Intern! Performs entry-level internal auditing work. Work involves assisting with the implementation of the current year agencywide risk assessment, including assessing survey responses, conducting interviews, computing calculations and presenting the results of the risk assessment. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. The intern will gain an understanding of the risk assessment process, interact with various levels of Comptroller staff and gain hands-on experience with using audit/risk assessment tools/software. Work Hours

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Occasional weekend and/or late evening work may be required. Actual work hours may change based on business need.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled as a senior at an accredited college/university or a recent graduate within one year, with major coursework in accounting, finance, economics or mathematics.
• Professional or academic experience assessing internal controls.

In this role you will:

• Prepares the TeamMate risk assessment survey and agencywide supplemental questionnaire.
• Interviews Texas CPA staff to gain information about the weaknesses and the extent of risks from the current and revised controls.
• Computes results, prepares presentation documents and presents the results of the annual risk assessment to Internal Audit Management and/or Executive Management.
• Performs other audit related duties as assigned.
